Community update following unauthorised access to vacant properties

We understand there has been some concern surrounding unauthorised access to vacant properties within the borough, with trespassers posting videos of this on social media. 

Please be assured that robust action will be taken against anyone found to have committed offences; this includes where there is evidence of a burglary or if a person has been found on an enclosed premises (Section 4 Vagrancy Act 1824).  

So far, five people have been arrested in connection with activity on the property and two people have been charged with conspiracy to commit burglary.

Our local Safer Neighbourhood Team has also been working closely with local residents and property owners to provide home security advice to prevent future incursions.
